New Book Reveals 50 Years of Evolution at ATU Galway

BREAKING: A new book titled “The Evolution of ATU Galway” has just been launched, offering an in-depth look at the institution’s transformation from its beginnings as RTC Galway in 1972. This urgent publication is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of higher education in the West of Ireland.
Co-editor and author Bernard O’Hara, a former registrar at GMIT, announced the release earlier today, emphasizing the book’s role in highlighting the institution’s significant impact on accessibility to education. The 249-page hardback features a wealth of information, including 75 photographs, four maps, and three tables that provide scholarly insights into the college’s journey over the past 50 years.
O’Hara shared that his dedication to this project stemmed from his profound love for both the college and the Galway community. He and co-author Dr. McCarthy dedicated the book to the late Dr. Gay Cor, who served as the first Principal of RTC Galway. This dedication adds a poignant touch to the narrative, reminding readers of the human stories behind the institution’s evolution.
The book not only chronicles the history of ATU Galway but also serves as a testament to the institution’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities in the region. As higher education continues to evolve, this publication stands as an essential resource for students, educators, and history enthusiasts alike.
With the launch of “The Evolution of ATU Galway,” readers are encouraged to explore how the college has shaped the educational landscape in the West of Ireland. This compelling narrative is set to resonate with anyone invested in the future of education.
