New Boutique Hotel The Hat Maker Opens, Transforming Dungarvan

BREAKING: The Hat Maker, a stunning new boutique hotel, has officially opened its doors in Dungarvan, Co Waterford, offering an exciting luxury escape for travelers. Just announced, this hotel is set to elevate the town’s burgeoning tourism scene, providing an ideal base for exploring the scenic Munster coastline.
Located just off the bustling Grattan Square, The Hat Maker is strategically positioned to give guests immediate access to West Waterford’s attractions, including the pristine beaches of Clonea Strand and the therapeutic seaweed baths in An Rinn. This is a timely addition for those eager to experience the area’s natural beauty, especially with the summer season approaching.
The Hat Maker is not merely a rebranding; it represents a complete transformation of the former shop of local milliner William Orr, which was purchased in 2020 by local couple David Burke and Rebecca Queally. After five years of meticulous planning and renovations, the hotel has emerged as a luxurious boutique destination, featuring a unique design that pays homage to its millinery roots.
Inside, guests will find a striking reception area adorned with bold decor, including a faux leopard-print love seat. The hotel boasts 16 boutique rooms, ranging from compact doubles to spacious luxury retreats. Each room is designed with a flair for elegance, showcasing statement headboards, antique furnishings, and an array of live plants that enliven the spaces. Notably, the luxury retreat rooms feature architecturally impressive ensuites with illuminated bathtubs—an upgrade worth considering for an additional €30-€45.
Service at The Hat Maker has been described as exceptional, with manager Jakub Majewski leading a team of friendly staff dedicated to ensuring a memorable stay for guests. The hotel’s cafe bar serves a selection of charcuterie and freshly baked goods, open from 11 AM to 8 PM, complementing a breakfast spread that includes bakery-fresh croissants and smoked salmon bagels.
While The Hat Maker does not offer on-site spa facilities or extensive amenities, it remains a vibrant escape for visitors. Rates start at just €195 for bed and breakfast for two, or €175 for two-night stays, making it an attractive option for both couples and solo travelers.
As Dungarvan continues to grow as a tourist destination, The Hat Maker is poised to become a key player in the local hospitality scene. Travelers seeking a stylish and comfortable base will find this newly opened hotel an essential stop.
WHAT’S NEXT: Keep an eye on upcoming events and activities in Dungarvan, as this hotel is likely to attract more visitors eager to explore what the area has to offer. With summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to plan your visit to this exciting new destination.
