New Scoil Iosagáin Set to Open in Castlecomer This September!

UPDATE: A brand new school, Scoil Iosagáin, is set to open in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny, in just a few weeks, igniting excitement throughout the community. Aileen Lynch has been appointed as the principal, as preparations ramp up for the school’s highly anticipated launch in September 2023.
In a significant development earlier this year, Castlecomer Presentation Primary School and Castlecomer Boys School jointly approached Bishop Coll, the patron of both institutions, requesting approval to amalgamate. This request was made following extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including boards of management, teachers, pupils, and parents.
The outcome will be the establishment of a single co-educational primary school that will serve students from junior infants through to sixth class. This move has been confirmed by Bishop Coll, who granted the request in March, with the Department of Education also giving its approval.
The name Scoil Íosagáin was chosen to reflect the schools’ Catholic ethos and honor the Irish language, which is a point of pride for the community. The new school is designed to foster an inclusive environment, encouraging collaboration among students of all backgrounds.
As the opening date approaches, local residents are buzzing with anticipation, eager to see how this new educational facility will impact the community. The school is expected to enhance educational opportunities and strengthen community ties, ensuring a brighter future for the children of Castlecomer.
Stay tuned for more updates as the opening day approaches. What will this new chapter mean for families in the area? The excitement is palpable, and the community is ready to welcome Scoil Iosagáin with open arms!
