Nine New EV Charging Hubs Coming to Galway by April 2024
BREAKING: Nine new high-powered electric vehicle (EV) recharging hubs are set to launch across Galway, significantly enhancing the region’s EV infrastructure. This announcement comes as Ireland accelerates its commitment to sustainable transport solutions, with the new hubs expected to be operational by April 2024.
The hubs are part of a nationwide initiative to deploy 192 new recharging stations at 90 locations across the country, aimed at supporting the growing electric vehicle fleet on Ireland’s roads. The new Galway sites include:
– Sweeney Oil in Moycullen
– Clifden
– Oranmore
– Leenane Hotel in Leenane
– Corrib Oil in Loughrea
– Centra in Moylough
– Arches Hotel in Claregalway
– McHugh’s Pub & Restaurant on the N84
– The Trading Post / Top Oil in Headford
Transport Minister Darragh O’Brien confirmed that nearly €10 million will be allocated to facilitate grants for the recharging infrastructure at these selected sites.
“We are building a robust and reliable network of charging points,” O’Brien stated yesterday. This strategic plan will ensure that recharging hubs are located no more than 30 kilometers apart, making it easier for EV drivers to travel across the country without range anxiety.
The establishment of these nine new hubs is crucial for promoting electric vehicle use in Galway and beyond, as the demand for sustainable transport options continues to surge. With public access expected by April 2024, local businesses will play a vital role in supporting this eco-friendly transition.
The initiative is not just about convenience; it’s a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions and meeting national climate goals. As the EV market expands, these hubs will serve as lifelines for drivers, providing essential power for vehicles and fostering a greener future.
Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to share this exciting news as Galway prepares for a cleaner, more sustainable transportation landscape. Stay tuned for more updates as the rollout progresses.
