Officer Injured, Three Police Vehicles Damaged in Strabane Incident

URGENT UPDATE: A police officer has been injured and three police vehicles significantly damaged following a violent altercation in Strabane early this morning. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the Railway Street area, prompting an urgent appeal for witnesses from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
Authorities confirm that officers were responding to a disturbance involving multiple individuals when one officer was assaulted, suffering a punch to the arm. In connection with the incident, a man has been arrested on suspicion of common assault, assault on police, and disorderly behaviour. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
Upon returning to their vehicles, officers discovered extensive damage: two vehicles had wing mirrors broken, while a third had its number plate removed and a dent in the boot. One of the damaged vehicles is now out of service for repairs, raising concerns about police operational capacity in the area.
The PSNI is actively seeking information from the public. They urge anyone who witnessed the altercation or may have dashcam or mobile footage to contact police at 101.
