Pedestrian Killed in Co Derry Road Incident: Police Investigate
A tragic road incident in Co Derry has claimed the life of a 69-year-old man. The collision occurred on November 6, 2025, shortly after 17:50 in the Grange Road area of Magherafelt, involving a pedestrian and a car. Emergency services responded promptly, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police confirmed details of the incident, stating that officers were dispatched immediately after receiving reports of the crash. Chief Inspector Celeste Simpson from the Collision Investigation Unit expressed condolences, stating, “Our officers attended, supported by colleagues from partner emergency services. However, sadly, the pedestrian – a man aged 69 – was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
The Grange Road was closed for an extended period while investigations took place but has since reopened to traffic. The police are actively looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing for witnesses.

Authorities are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who possesses digital footage that could aid in the investigation. This may include dash-cam recordings, mobile phone videos, or CCTV images from the surrounding area.
