Pieta Announces Job Cuts to Slash Costs by €3 Million Now
URGENT UPDATE: Mental health charity Pieta has announced immediate job cuts as part of a restructuring initiative aimed at reducing costs by €3 million. This decision comes amid escalating financial pressures, including the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and challenges in fundraising efforts.
In a statement released earlier today, the charity emphasized its commitment to maintaining frontline services while scaling back on educational programs. CEO Stephanie Manahan stated that Pieta has faced a worrying decline in donations over recent years, forcing the organization to take decisive action to ensure its sustainability.
“We need to ensure Pieta’s sustainability into the future, so that we are there for those who need us in the years ahead,” Manahan explained. “To do this, we will need to reduce our costs to match our levels of income.”
Manahan reassured supporters that despite these cuts, the charity remains dedicated to its core mission. “I want to reassure those who rely on us that we will always prioritize our frontline services, and that Pieta remains focused on our charitable objectives, continuing to be there for the people who need us,” she added.
Founded in 2006 in Dublin, Pieta provides essential therapy services for individuals struggling with self-harm and those bereaved by suicide. The organization is widely known for its impactful annual fundraiser, the Darkness into Light walks, which unite communities in support of mental health awareness.
As Pieta embarks on this restructuring phase, the organization is calling on its supporters, partners, and volunteers to continue their vital contributions. “Your support has always been the lifeblood of Pieta, and with it, we can ensure Pieta is here for everyone who needs us – today and in the future,” Manahan urged.
With these developments unfolding, the charity’s future hinges on its ability to adapt to these financial challenges while continuing to provide critical mental health services. As the situation evolves, stakeholders and supporters are encouraged to stay connected for updates on Pieta’s restructuring efforts.
This urgent announcement highlights the growing impact of economic pressures on nonprofit organizations and the vital role community support plays in sustaining essential services.
