The anticipated arrival of approximately 80,000 festival-goers at the Electric Picnic in Stradbally, Co Laois, this weekend is set to coincide with rain showers and the possibility of sudden downpours. Attendees should prepare for a mix of weather conditions, including some bright spells interspersed with heavy rain.

According to Met Éireann, the weather will be most challenging in the northern and northwestern regions of Ireland. However, the midlands can also expect high winds and occasional downpours, making durable footwear and waterproof clothing essential for a comfortable festival experience.

Friday’s Weather Outlook

The best weather conditions are predicted for Friday, September 1, 2025. Attendees can look forward to a combination of sunny spells and scattered showers, particularly in the northern and western areas. Temperatures are expected to reach around 20 degrees Celsius, with the warmest conditions likely occurring in the east and southeast.

Meteorologist Andrew Doran-Sherlock indicated that Friday night will see a shift as clouds cover much of the country, bringing rain and drizzle to parts of Munster and Connacht. Overnight temperatures may drop to as low as 9 degrees Celsius, with winds strengthening from the southwest by Saturday morning.

Saturday and Sunday Forecasts

Saturday’s forecast predicts widespread rain and windy conditions, with heavy downpours expected through the morning. Localised flooding is a possibility, accompanied by fresh to strong southerly winds. As the day progresses, winds may reach near gale force along the Atlantic coasts, transitioning to sunny spells and blustery showers by the afternoon. The highest temperatures for Saturday are projected to be around 21 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, festival-goers can expect breezy and showery weather once again, with the best chances for dry and sunny intervals in the east and southeast. Highs are forecasted to range between 14 to 19 degrees Celsius, with gusty winds persisting from the south or southwest.

Looking ahead to early next week, a mix of sunny spells and showers is expected, with heavier rainfall anticipated on Monday and lighter showers on Tuesday.

As Electric Picnic attendees prepare for a weekend of music and festivities, being equipped for varying weather conditions will be crucial to ensuring an enjoyable experience.
