Ray Boyne Departs Kilkenny Hurling Team After One Season
URGENT UPDATE: Ray Boyne, the sports performance and data analyst, has confirmed his departure from the Kilkenny senior hurling backroom team after just one season. This news comes as the team gears up for the upcoming 2026 season, marking a significant change in their preparations.
Boyne, who previously dedicated over a decade to Dublin GAA, where he contributed to the analysis for the senior footballers and assisted with the hurlers in 2018, expressed gratitude for his time in Kilkenny. He took to social media to announce his exit, stating, “Didn’t make the cut for 2026, but a massive thank you to Derek, the management team, the coaches, all the medical, physio, nutrition, psychology and backroom staff, county board officials, and most of all the greatest group of players.”
In his heartfelt message, Boyne reflected on his experience in Kilkenny during the 2025 season, describing it as “a very special year in a very special county.” He emphasized the invaluable connections and lessons learned throughout his journey, adding, “Kilkenny gave me more than I could ever give back.”
As Kilkenny prepares for the next season, the impact of Boyne’s departure raises questions about the team’s future strategies and performance. The announcement is expected to resonate within the hurling community, as fans and stakeholders reflect on the changes ahead.
The Kilkenny hurlers are now focused on regrouping and planning for 2026. With Boyne’s significant contributions over the past year, his absence will likely be felt as the team continues to evolve.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as Kilkenny and the hurling community navigate these changes.
