Silent Call Leads to Partner’s Arrest After Violent Attack

UPDATE: A silent call has led to the arrest of a man in his late 20s for allegedly attacking his partner in their north Dublin home. Authorities confirmed the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, as Gardaí responded to the distress signal and traced the call to the couple’s apartment.
In a dramatic court session at Dublin District Court, Judge Peter White heard that the accused allegedly smashed through the bathroom door with a hammer to reach the woman, who had locked herself inside for safety. The man, whose identity remains undisclosed for legal reasons, faces serious charges of assault causing harm.
A local Garda testified that upon arrival, they found the woman visibly distressed with multiple facial injuries. The bathroom door bore hammer marks, indicating the forceful nature of the assault. The woman recounted a harrowing experience after returning home at 3:30 AM from a night out with a friend. She stated that her partner violently pulled her by the hair and struck her repeatedly in the head and back.
She described the chilling moment when she locked herself in the bathroom, fearing for her life as her partner attempted to break in. “He used the hammer to smash the door and pulled me out by my hair,” she told the court, detailing her injuries and the trauma she experienced. The couple shares children, adding to the gravity of the situation.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that the woman had previously endured threats from her partner, including a chilling warning that he would throw acid in her face if she sought help from the Gardaí. As the court considered bail, defense counsel argued that strict conditions would prevent any repeat of the alleged violence.
Bail was ultimately set at €750, and the accused is required to have no contact with the victim while awaiting further proceedings. He has not yet entered a plea and is scheduled to appear again for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
This incident highlights the urgent issues surrounding domestic violence and the critical role of law enforcement in protecting victims. Authorities are urging anyone in similar situations to reach out for help. Stay tuned for further updates as this developing story unfolds.
