Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Cork, Kerry, and Limerick

A thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Ireland as weather conditions shift this morning. From 09:00 on Monday, August 18, 2023, a Status Yellow weather warning will take effect in the counties of Cork, Kerry, and Limerick. The warning is expected to remain in place until 18:00 this evening.
According to Met Éireann, thunderstorms are likely in these regions, bringing potential risks including lightning damage, power outages, localized flooding, and difficult travel conditions. Residents are advised to stay informed about the developing weather situation.
The forecast indicates that today will start dry in many areas, with sunny spells following early mist patches. However, cloud cover will increase over much of Munster, south Leinster, and south Connacht throughout the morning. This change will bring about showers, which are expected to become heavy at times, accompanied by thunderstorms.
Weather Forecast and Impact
Temperatures are anticipated to range from 18 to 24 degrees Celsius, with the warmest conditions likely in the northwest. Light to moderate easterly breezes will accompany the weather changes.
As the day progresses, further showers are forecast to impact the south of Leinster, Munster, and South Connacht, some of which may be heavy or thundery. Elsewhere, the weather is predicted to remain mostly dry with clear spells, and the lowest temperatures will fall between 12 and 16 degrees Celsius.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, the weather will feature sunny spells interspersed with scattered showers. The showers could also be heavy or thundery, predominantly affecting Munster and south Leinster. Expected maximum temperatures will be between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius.
Residents in the affected counties are encouraged to monitor weather updates and exercise caution, especially when travelling. For real-time tracking of thunderstorms, individuals can utilize available weather tracking tools.
Stay informed and prepare for the changing conditions as the day unfolds.
