URGENT UPDATE: Tickets are still available for the highly anticipated Coffee Concert in Kilkenny, while the final concert of the season is already sold out. Taking place on September 7, 2023, at 11:30 AM in Thomastown Concert Hall, this event features acclaimed Baroque music specialists Bojan Cičiċ and Malcolm Proud.
The final concert, featuring Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at the historic Kilkenny Castle, has completely sold out, highlighting the soaring interest in this year’s season. However, those eager to experience live music have a chance to secure tickets for the Coffee Concert, promising an uplifting morning of Baroque masterpieces.
During the concert, audiences will enjoy a captivating program featuring works by the female French composer Elizabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, the English Elizabethan composer William Byrd, and the legendary Johann Sebastian Bach. Bojan Cičiċ, a Croatian violinist with a prestigious international career, is known for his performances with leading early music ensembles such as the Academy of Ancient Music and the Kioi Hall Chamber Orchestra in Tokyo. His impressive work has garnered numerous awards.
Malcolm Proud, who served as the organist of St Canice’s Cathedral in Kilkenny for 35 years, boasts a remarkable career performing with renowned groups like the English Baroque Soloists and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. His extensive experience includes performances in iconic venues across the globe, from Vienna to New York, and he has made over 40 CD recordings.
