Tragic Donegal Crash Claims Life of Woman, Man Hospitalized
A serious road traffic collision in Co Donegal has resulted in the death of a woman in her 80s and left a man of the same age hospitalized. The incident occurred shortly before 16:00 on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, on the R262 at Tullynaglaggin in the Kilraine area of West Donegal.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a car. Despite the prompt response from medical personnel, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has since been removed for further examination.
The man involved was treated by emergency responders at the site before being transported to Letterkenny University Hospital for injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.
Investigation and Road Closures
In the aftermath of the collision, Gardaí have closed the R262 to facilitate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Forensic Collision Investigators are expected to conduct a thorough examination of the area, and the road is anticipated to remain closed overnight and into the following day. Local diversions have been established, with motorists advised to use the main N56 route through Ardara and Killybegs to avoid the affected area.
Gardaí are actively investigating the fatal collision and are appealing for witnesses. A spokesperson for the Garda stated, “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Kilraine, Co. Donegal this afternoon. The single-vehicle collision involved a car and occurred on the R262 at Tullynaglaggin at approximately 15:50.”
They urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or possesses dash-cam footage from the area between 15:30 and 16:00 to come forward with information.
