URGENT UPDATE: A special tribute concert honoring Galway hurling icon Michael Coleman is scheduled for December 12 at Brooklodge Church in Ballyglunin. The event, featuring renowned traditional folk singer Sean Keane, aims to celebrate Coleman’s profound impact on the local community and will begin promptly at 8 PM.

Coleman, who tragically passed away on February 7 following an accident near his home in Crumlin, was instrumental in the refurbishment and maintenance of Brooklodge Church. This concert is not only a tribute to his legacy but also a fundraising effort to support the church he cherished deeply. Tickets are priced at €30 and can be purchased at local outlets, including the Abbeyknockmoy Parish Office.

Fr. Ronnie Boyle, Abbeyknockmoy’s Parish Priest, shared with the Connacht Tribune, “Michael Coleman left a wonderful legacy of voluntary work and achievement that will never be forgotten. His sudden passing was a shock, and this concert will honor his tremendous influence on our community.”

This heartfelt musical evening promises to bring together friends, family, and community members to reminisce about Coleman’s contributions, including his status as a three-time All-Star and a pivotal figure in Abbeyknockmoy’s first senior hurling title in 1988. Proceeds from the concert will directly support the upkeep of Brooklodge Church, located just yards from Coleman’s final resting place in the newly established Brooklodge Cemetery.

The community is encouraged to come together for this celebration of music and remembrance, ensuring that Michael Coleman’s legacy continues to thrive. As excitement builds, local outlets are preparing for a strong turnout; don’t miss this opportunity to honor a beloved figure whose impact resonates deeply in the hearts of many.
