Two Arrested in Derry Drug Bust; Cannabis and Edibles Seized
UPDATE: Two men have been arrested in Derry on November 17, 2025, following a significant drug operation. Authorities made the arrests during a patrol in the Ringfort Road area, where they seized multiple items linked to drug offenses.
The first suspect was detained on suspicion of possessing and supplying a Class B controlled drug, alongside charges for driving without insurance or a valid license. Police confiscated two mobile phones and a quantity of suspected cannabis from his vehicle, along with additional suspected Class B edibles found during a search of his residence. He has since been released on bail as investigations continue.
In a related incident around 8:40 PM, officers observed a grey Range Rover exhibiting poor driving behavior on Irish Street. After attempting to stop the vehicle as it entered Dungiven Road, the driver, a 57-year-old man, pulled over on Glendermott Road. Upon speaking with him, officers detected a strong smell of cannabis, leading to a search of the vehicle that uncovered partially used drugs. A preliminary drug test confirmed unfitness to drive, resulting in his arrest on similar charges. He too was released on bail pending further inquiries.
This operation underscores Derry police’s ongoing commitment to combating drug-related crimes in the area. As authorities continue to investigate, residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
