Urgent Appeal for Information on Missing Boy Kyran Durnin
UPDATE: As the first anniversary of Kyran Durnin’s disappearance approaches, An Garda Síochána has urgently renewed its appeal for information, intensifying efforts to solve the mystery surrounding the young boy’s case. Kyran, who would be turning nine this year, was reported missing from his home in Drogheda in August 2023, although authorities believe he was last seen alive in June 2022 when he was just six years old.
Despite extensive investigations, including over 570 separate actions and a murder investigation initiated in October 2024, Kyran remains missing. Two arrests have been made—a man and a woman suspected of involvement in the case—but the search continues with no resolution in sight.
Authorities have conducted thorough searches of three domestic residences and adjacent lands, employing excavation techniques and full forensic examinations. In a bid to gather evidence, investigators have seized and analyzed numerous electronic devices, along with 29,500 hours of CCTV footage from various locations, which is still under review.
Kyran’s family and the community are left in anguish as the investigation unfolds. An Garda Síochána is working closely with TUSLA as they seek to uncover the truth behind Kyran’s disappearance. A dedicated incident room has been established at the Drogheda Garda Station, where officials are imploring the public to provide any information, no matter how trivial it may seem.
In their statement, An Garda Síochána emphasized the importance of public input, stating,
“An Garda Síochána is aware of the extensive public commentary on this investigation, including speculation, rumours, and theories on what may have happened to Kyran. We continue to appeal to the public to not assume that the investigation team knows everything. Any information will be treated in strict confidence.”
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward immediately. The public can contact Drogheda Garda Station at 041 987 4200, the Garda Confidential Line at 01 666 111, or any local Garda station.
As the anniversary of Kyran’s disappearance draws near, the urgency of finding answers grows. The community and Kyran’s family continue to hope for crucial information that could lead to a resolution in this heart-wrenching case. The time to act is now; every detail may hold the key to uncovering the truth.
