Urgent: Bomb Squad Responds to Explosive Found in Manchester Park

BREAKING: A bomb squad has been deployed to Platt Fields Park in Fallowfield, Manchester, after a suspicious device was discovered by a member of the public at 10:50 AM today. Emergency services rapidly established a cordon around the popular park, frequented by students and local residents.
Authorities confirm that the device, which is believed to be a grenade, was located underground and had likely been there for some time. Police and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units responded quickly to assess the situation. In a decisive move, they executed a controlled explosion to neutralize the threat.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated, “We were called to Platt Fields at around 10:50 AM today after a member of the public reported finding a suspicious device. A cordon was put in place while the EOD assessed the device and carried out a controlled explosion. It is believed the item had been in the ground for some time.”
Residents and visitors were urged to avoid the area as a precaution, heightening tensions in the bustling park. The swift action by emergency services has ensured public safety, but the discovery raises concerns about unexploded ordnance in urban areas.
As this situation develops, authorities continue to investigate the origin of the device. Stay tuned for more updates on this pressing story as we monitor the situation closely.
