URGENT: Deadly E. Coli in Camembert Cheese Sparks Recall

ALERT: A deadly E. coli threat has prompted the urgent recall of a popular Camembert cheese across Ireland. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) confirmed today that a specific batch of Gillot cru Petit Camembert cheese, produced in France, may be contaminated with a dangerous strain of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli.

The FSAI warns that symptoms may arise anywhere between one to eight days after consumption, with the average onset occurring three to four days post-ingestion.

The FSAI’s announcement follows a troubling trend this August, which has seen numerous food products recalled in Iceland, including fresh spinach and various ready-meals, marking a summer of increasing food safety alerts.
