Urgent Flooding Warning: Avoid Key Roads in Kilkenny Now
URGENT UPDATE: Flooding is impacting multiple roads in Kilkenny, with authorities issuing warnings for motorists to steer clear of affected areas. As of October 12, 2023, rising water levels are reported on Annamult Road in Bennettsbridge and Station Road/Marshes Street/The Quay in Thomastown.
While both roads remain passable at the moment, Gardaí warn that water levels are continuing to rise, creating hazardous conditions. “Motorists are advised to take care at these locations,” a Garda spokesperson stated.
Marshes Street Car Park in Thomastown is currently inaccessible due to flooding, further complicating the situation for local residents and travelers. Authorities are urging everyone to remain vigilant and avoid driving through flooded areas.
“Motorists should never drive into floods without knowing the depth. Remember, standing water of any depth can damage your engine,” the spokesperson emphasized.
This urgent warning comes as Kilkenny communities grapple with severe weather conditions, leading to significant impacts on local infrastructure. Residents are encouraged to share images from affected areas to help keep the community informed.
As rainfall continues, the situation is developing. Motorists and residents are advised to stay updated through local news and official channels. Share this information to help keep others safe!
