Urgent: Man Hospitalized After Brutal Attack by 9 Masked Men

UPDATE: A man in his 30s has sustained serious injuries following a brutal attack by a group of nine masked men in Derry around midnight on August 30, 2025. The incident occurred in the Waterloo Street area, leading to an urgent response from the PSNI and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
Police were alerted after the victim was found with severe facial and back injuries. He was quickly transported to the hospital for treatment. Witnesses reported that the victim was set upon by the masked assailants, who were dressed in dark clothing.
Inspector O’Donnell has appealed to the public, stating:
“We would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area either late on Friday, or in the early hours of Saturday.”
Authorities are urging anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or any other footage from the scene to come forward.
