Urgent: New Pedestrian Crossings Planned for Urlingford Village

URGENT UPDATE: Kilkenny County Council has just announced plans for two new pedestrian crossings in Urlingford Village, aiming to enhance pedestrian safety in the area. This significant development is set to include a raised zebra crossing with belisha beacons located near the Lumper Lane (LT 18121) and Main St (R639) Junction.
Additionally, officials plan to install another pedestrian crossing, also a raised zebra type, controlled with traffic signals at the R689 and Main St (R639) Junction. Furthermore, the existing pedestrian crossing east of the New Road (LP 1812) and Main St (R639) will transition from traffic control signals to a zebra crossing with belisha beacons.
WHY THIS MATTERS NOW: With pedestrian safety increasingly critical, these measures are expected to significantly reduce traffic accidents in Urlingford Village. Residents can view the full proposal at the Castlecomer Area Office, located on Kilkenny Road, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, or access details via the council’s website.
DEADLINE FOR INPUT: Community members are encouraged to participate in the planning process. Written submissions regarding the proposed development must be submitted online at https://consult.kilkenny.ie or sent via email to [email protected]. All submissions should be clearly marked “Traffic & Pedestrian Safety Measures Urlingford” and received by 4 PM on Friday, September 26. Late entries will not be accepted.
As Kilkenny County Council moves forward with these crucial safety measures, local residents are urged to engage and ensure their voices are heard. Share this update to keep others informed about these vital developments in Urlingford Village.
