Urgent Rescue: Gardener Freed After Being Trapped by Digger

UPDATE: Emergency services have successfully rescued a man trapped under a mini-digger in Clonlara, Ireland, late Friday night. Firefighters from Limerick City, along with paramedics from the National Ambulance Service and gardai, rushed to the scene following urgent reports of the incident.
The victim, a man believed to be in his 30s or 40s, was performing gardening duties when the accident occurred. Firefighters arrived shortly after 8:00 PM and discovered the man pinned beneath the weight of the digger. Utilizing specialized equipment, they worked swiftly to lift the machinery and free him from the distressing situation.
Once rescued, paramedics immediately initiated first aid treatment on-site before transporting him to the hospital. Although he is thought to have suffered crush-type injuries to his lower body, authorities report they are not believed to be life-threatening.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and a garda spokesperson confirmed, “Gardai assisted other emergency services at an incident in Clonlara.”
In a similar case, emergency services encountered a comparable situation last February 2022 in Kilfinane, where a wall collapsed on a blocklayer, resulting in similar injuries. The Health and Safety Authority has been notified regarding this latest incident.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with construction and gardening work. As authorities continue to investigate, community members are urged to remain cautious when operating heavy machinery.
