UPDATE: Today marks a pivotal moment for over 2,300 students in Donegal as they receive their Leaving Certificate results. The results will be released at 10 AM via the Candidate Self Service Portal managed by the State Examinations Commission.
This year, 2,072 students completed the standard Leaving Cert exams while 223 students registered for the Leaving Cert Applied exams. Schools across Donegal are set to welcome students, providing a space for celebration or support as they navigate this crucial day.
In addition, the National Parents and Students Leaving Certificate Helpline is operational today starting at 10 AM. The helpline, reachable at 1800 265 165 or by texting GUIDANCE to 086 1800 685, offers free assistance from qualified guidance counsellors. They will be available to help students understand their results and provide support on a range of issues including calculating CAO points, rechecking examination results, and managing offers.
The helpline will operate weekdays from 10 AM to 5 PM (22nd, 25th to 29th August) and on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM (23rd and 30th August). Text replies will be sent during these hours, ensuring that students have access to timely guidance.
Counsellors are prepared to assist with various concerns, such as what to do if a subject is failed, exploring all educational pathways including apprenticeships, private colleges, and UCAS/UNICAS applications, as well as understanding CAO procedures, registration fees, and options for gap years.
As results day unfolds, the emotional impact on students and their families is profound. Many will experience joy and relief, while others may face challenges that require immediate support and guidance.
Stay tuned as more updates and reactions from students and educational officials are expected throughout the day. This is a crucial moment for the Class of 2025 in Donegal, and the community stands ready to support them as they embark on their next steps.
