Urgent: Ryanair Leaves UK Passengers Without Luggage in Gran Canaria

UPDATE: Ryanair has sparked outrage among UK tourists after Flight FR4757 departed from Bristol Airport to Gran Canaria on July 18 without a single suitcase on board. Passengers were shocked to discover upon landing that all their checked luggage had been left behind due to a “security issue” cited by the captain.
The incident has left travelers scrambling for essentials in the popular Spanish destination. Passengers only learned about the missing baggage during the flight, leading to immediate frustration as they landed without their belongings. Madeleine Cooper, a 22-year-old traveler, expressed her disbelief, stating, “We had absolutely no issues at all until we landed. Then the captain said they made the difficult decision to not bring any of our luggage.”
With 70 bags left behind, the stress escalated. Fellow traveler Sophie Payne urgently needed an inhaler due to her severe asthma, highlighting the human impact of this mishap. The group reported spending approximately €60 to travel to a shopping center to buy clean underwear and other necessities, stating they were left with little to work with in the 33-degree Celsius heat.
By 6 PM on Saturday, they reported receiving “zero communication” from Ryanair, only being advised to “keep using the app” for updates. Social media has erupted with complaints, as one user lamented, “Great start to the holiday as Ryanair decided to bring 0 of the suitcases from Bristol to Gran Canaria. No heart medication for me tomorrow.”
In response, a spokesperson for Ryanair confirmed that an error by a third-party handling provider at Bristol Airport resulted in the mishandling of luggage. They stated, “Affected passengers were notified and their bags were rushed on the next flight from Bristol to Gran Canaria, which departed the following afternoon.”
Ryanair, which operates over 3,600 daily flights, emphasized that they lead the industry with the fewest lost bags—only one mishandled bag for nearly every 10,000 passengers. They have apologized for the inconvenience caused and are working with the handling provider to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
As chaos unfolds for stranded passengers, many await updates on their missing luggage and hope for swift resolutions. Travelers are advised to stay vigilant and monitor their Ryanair app for the latest developments regarding their baggage.
This developing story continues to resonate with those affected, as they navigate the challenges of their vacation without essential items.
