Urgent: Sustainable Fashion Pop-Up Hits Carndonagh This Saturday
UPDATE: A festive preloved fashion pop-up is set to take place in Carndonagh this Saturday, November 29, 2023, at the Carndonagh Garden Centre. From 12 PM to 3 PM, the Shopping Spraoi event will showcase affordable preloved clothing while promoting sustainable shopping practices just in time for the holiday season.
This urgent initiative, funded by the ChangeMakers Donegal Seeds of Change Grant, aims to reduce waste and combat the fast fashion crisis. Project Co-ordinator Caoimhe Doherty stated that the event links local efforts in Donegal to global challenges related to climate change and fast fashion.
Visitors can expect a variety of activities, including quality preloved clothing options, clothing swaps, and demonstrations on repair and upcycling. The event is designed to provide families and young people with a low-cost way to refresh their wardrobes while making responsible fashion choices.
Caoimhe Doherty emphasized, “Shopping Spraoi helps people make small, practical changes that reduce waste. It shows that sustainable fashion is easy, affordable, and fun.” The initiative also supports global citizenship by raising awareness about the impact of fast fashion.
Everyone is welcome to participate, whether they are swapping clothes or exploring sustainable options for the first time. The pop-up is part of the Síoraí circular economy hub, which promotes waste reduction through sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling materials.
As the world grapples with the environmental impact of consumerism, events like this highlight the power of community action in driving positive change. The hub already hosts Síoraí Clothing and Accessories and Síoraí Home, which sells refurbished furniture.
Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in sustainable fashion practices while making a difference in your community. For more details, visit www.spraoiagussport.ie/siorai or follow Spraoi agus Spórt on social media.
This pop-up event is more than just shopping; it’s a movement towards a more sustainable future. Act now and be part of the change!
