UPDATE: In a shocking turn of events, Ciaran Dirrane, the father of tragic toddler Daniel Aruebose, attempted to rent out an Uber Eats account just 20 hours before search teams discovered skeletal remains believed to belong to the missing child in Donabate, Ireland. The grim find concluded a 16-day search operation that had captivated the local community and drawn extensive media attention.

The remains were uncovered in marshy land on Thursday, September 18, 2025, prompting a major investigation by An Garda Síochána. On Monday, authorities dismantled the search area, which had been cordoned off, as they continued to gather evidence. While detectives have not yet confirmed the identity of the remains, a post-mortem examination was conducted on September 19, although results are being withheld for operational reasons.

Just hours before the discovery, Dirrane posted on social media from his location in Brazil, offering an “Uber Eats account for rent in Dublin” for €12 a week. This is not the first instance of such advertisements; he had previously targeted the Dublin area, revealing a troubling pattern of behavior. Additionally, he attempted to rent out the apartment he shared with Daniel and the boy’s mother, Maria Aruebose, despite it being owned by Fingal County Council.

Earlier reports suggest that Maria Aruebose initially misled authorities about Daniel’s whereabouts, claiming she did not know where he was buried. However, she later admitted to police that both parents had secretly buried him in the marshy area along Portrane Road, approximately 4 km from their previous apartment in north County Dublin.

Both parents are reported to be cooperating with investigators. They maintain that Daniel died in his sleep from natural causes, and they panicked, burying him in a shallow grave. Sources claim that after his death, Daniel was changed from his pajamas into his day clothes and buried with his favorite teddy bear, wrapped in a blanket and placed in a rucksack.

Disturbingly, investigators found no traces of the child’s existence in their apartment, with all his belongings seemingly disposed of. “There’s no sign of anything belonging to the little boy in the apartment, not even a toy or clothes,” a source revealed. The only item retrieved during the forensic search was a hidden photograph of Daniel, raising further questions about the family’s past.

Local councillor Corina Johnson has called for a public inquiry, expressing concern over the circumstances surrounding Daniel’s tragic death. “I think the State has questions to answer,” she stated. “This can’t happen again. This is an absolutely horrific tragedy.”

An Garda Síochána continues to investigate all circumstances related to Daniel Aruebose’s disappearance. They urge anyone with information to contact the investigation team at Swords Garda Station at 01-6664700, or to reach out via the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.

As the investigation unfolds, this tragic case highlights critical societal issues and raises urgent questions about child welfare and state oversight. The community is left in mourning, grappling with the profound loss of a young life and seeking answers in the face of unthinkable circumstances.
