A native of Ballyshannon, McLoone was not only a dedicated public servant but also a celebrated Gaelic Footballer, representing clubs like Aodh Rua and earning recognition on the Donegal team of the Millennium.

McLoone is survived by his wife, Imelda, and four children: Michael, David, Philip, and Caroline. His funeral is set to take place in Ballyshannon on Wednesday, where community members are expected to pay their respects.
