Urgent Update: Graignamanagh Regatta Set to Proceed This Weekend

UPDATE: The Graignamanagh Regatta is confirmed to proceed this Bank Holiday weekend, despite earlier concerns over water quality in the area. Just hours ago, Kilkenny County Council announced that swimming advisory warnings in Inistioge and Thomastown have been lifted, allowing for safe bathing and water activities.
Earlier this week, reports indicated that water quality tests had raised alarms, leading to advisory notices for several locations, including Graignamanagh. However, following a fresh assessment on Friday afternoon, officials confirmed the lifting of warnings in Inistioge and Thomastown, sparking excitement among locals and visitors alike.
In a statement, Kilkenny County Council assured residents that they will continue to monitor water quality to ensure safety across all bathing locations. This ongoing vigilance comes as the community prepares to celebrate the much-anticipated regatta, an event that holds significant cultural importance for the region.
Unfortunately, the advisory notice remains in effect for Graignamanagh, based on guidance from the Health Service Executive (HSE), which means some restrictions will still apply. However, this does not dampen spirits as local organizers express optimism about the event’s success.
The annual regatta promises to bring joy and community spirit, as participants gather to enjoy water-based activities. With the lifting of the advisory notices in nearby areas, families and friends are eager to partake in the festivities.
As the weekend approaches, attention remains on Graignamanagh, where the community is rallying to ensure the regatta proceeds smoothly. Kilkenny County Council’s commitment to ongoing water quality testing is crucial for maintaining public health and safety as the event unfolds.
Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops, and enjoy the festivities safely!
