Urgent Update: Man, 30s, Hospitalized After Derry Assault

URGENT UPDATE: A man in his 30s has been rushed to the hospital following a brutal late-night assault by a group of men in Derry. The shocking incident occurred in the Fernabbey Court area just after 9:50 PM on August 15, 2025.
Authorities with the PSNI have confirmed that the victim sustained injuries that, thankfully, are not believed to be life-threatening. However, the attackers fled the scene, prompting an immediate investigation.
Detective Sergeant Wootton stated, “Shortly after 9:50 PM, it was reported that a man in his 30s was assaulted by a number of men. The man was taken to hospital for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.” This violent attack has left the community on edge, and police are calling for anyone with information to step forward.
The PSNI is appealing for witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious between 8:30 PM and 10:00 PM in the Fernabbey area on Friday night. Detective Sergeant Wootton emphasized the urgency of gathering information: “Enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the assault to contact us.”
