URGENT UPDATE: Woman in her 70s dies after Limerick crash
BREAKING: A woman in her 70s has tragically died following a serious two-vehicle collision in County Limerick. Authorities confirmed the fatal incident occurred on the N21 at Templeglantine West on Saturday, October 18, at approximately 11:50 AM.
Emergency services rushed to the scene where the female driver was transported to University Hospital Limerick, where she was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. A spokesperson for the Gardaí stated, “A female passenger of the second vehicle, also in her 70s, was taken to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of injuries that are currently believed to be non-life-threatening.”
In light of this tragic incident, Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are specifically asking anyone who was in the area between 11 AM and noon on Saturday to provide information. “Road users with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, from that section of the road during this critical period are also encouraged to share it with investigating officers,” the spokesperson added.
A forensic collision investigation is set to be conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators (FCI) to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
As of this Sunday, the road is open, and authorities are actively pursuing leads to ensure a thorough investigation.
