Urgent Upgrade: €1.2 Million Woodquay Park Enhancements Start Soon
UPDATE: Major enhancements to Woodquay Park in Galway City are set to begin within weeks, following the signing of a contract with John Madden Sons Ltd. The €1.2 million project will transform the park into an accessible green space, featuring biodiversity-friendly planting, mobility-friendly pathways, and areas designed for play and relaxation.
The work is expected to take approximately seven months to complete, with funding sourced from the Fáilte Ireland Urban Animation Scheme, the Local Authorities Water Programme, and local property taxes and commercial rates. This initiative aims not only to enhance the park but also to improve surrounding streets through traffic calming upgrades and better pedestrian facilities.
This development is particularly significant as it represents a commitment to creating inclusive public spaces that cater to all ages and abilities. With increased green areas, the project will promote biodiversity, offering residents and visitors a revitalized environment to enjoy.
As work is expected to start shortly, local residents are encouraged to stay informed about potential disruptions. The enhancements are part of a broader effort to beautify Galway and promote community well-being. More updates will follow as the project progresses.
