The Boil Water Notice affecting the Mooncoin Public Water Supply has been lifted effective immediately, allowing approximately 6,000 customers to resume normal water usage.
The notice was initially issued on August 27, 2023, as a precautionary measure to safeguard public health after giardia was detected in the water supply. Areas impacted by the disruption included Kilmacow, Mooncoin, Mullinavat, Carrigeen, Newrath, and surrounding regions.
In a statement, Shane Aylward from Uisce Éireann emphasized the organization’s commitment to public health, stating, “The Boil Water Notice was put in place as a precautionary measure, as protecting public health is Uisce Éireann’s number one priority. We acknowledge the inconvenience caused to homes and businesses.”
