Amadeus River Cruises Unveils Sustainability-Focused Ship for 2027
Amadeus River Cruises has revealed plans for its latest river cruise ship, the AMADEUS Mira, set to launch in 2027. This new vessel will join its sister ship, the AMADEUS Aurea, which is anticipated to enter service in 2026. The company emphasizes a commitment to sustainability with a range of innovative features designed to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
The AMADEUS Mira will incorporate a hybrid-electric propulsion system, paired with an advanced control and positioning system that ensures optimal performance. Additional eco-friendly technologies include solar panels to provide supplemental power, a heat recovery system to maximize energy efficiency, and specialized glass panelling designed to minimize heat loss. These features aim to enhance passenger comfort while aligning with growing environmental demands in the cruise industry.
Wolfgang Lüftner, founder and CEO of Amadeus River Cruises, stated, “On board our fleet, cutting-edge environmental technology and luxurious design go hand in hand. With AMADEUS Mira, we continue this 40-year tradition of excellence, meeting the growing global demand for luxury river cruises with contemporary, innovative solutions.” He added that the strong interest from guests reflects the company’s dedication to pioneering shipbuilding.
Luxurious Amenities and Scenic Routes
The AMADEUS Mira will operate on the scenic Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers, providing guests with access to some of Europe’s most culturally rich destinations. It is designed to accommodate 158 passengers in a combination of 12 luxurious suites and 67 comfortable cabins.
Onboard amenities will include elegant, wind-protected lounge areas, the open-air “Café Vienna” gallery, and a dedicated massage and fitness area. Guests can also relax on the large sun deck, which features a heated pool and a lido bar. These offerings are expected to enhance the overall travel experience for those seeking luxury and comfort during their journeys.
Bookings for the 2027 season are anticipated to open in January 2026, providing ample opportunity for travelers to secure their places on this innovative vessel. As Amadeus River Cruises continues to develop its fleet, the launch of the AMADEUS Mira underscores the company’s focus on sustainability and luxury in the competitive river cruise market.
