British Airways Flight Attendant Found Naked, High on Drugs

A flight attendant for British Airways was discovered naked and under the influence of drugs in an aircraft toilet during a flight from California to London. The incident involved Haden Pentecost, 41, who exhibited signs of agitation and confusion, prompting intervention from the flight’s management.
Pentecost, who had been unable to assist with pre-flight safety checks, reportedly complained of stomach cramps. After locking himself in a bathroom, he emerged to find a colleague who was shocked to discover he was not wearing any clothes. The flight attendant had to be dressed by his colleague before being moved to an available seat, as revealed during court proceedings.
Details from the Court Hearing
Pentecost appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on March 15, 2024, where he pleaded guilty to performing an aviation function while impaired by drugs. Witnesses in the court included the flight captain, who described the troubling situation. Following the incident, a health professional was called, as Pentecost was displaying concerning symptoms, including dilated pupils and a rapid heart rate.
The court heard that he needed to be monitored every 20 minutes until the aircraft landed at Heathrow Airport, where paramedics transported him to a local hospital. Subsequent blood tests confirmed the presence of methamphetamine and amphetamine in his system.
Consequences and Future Proceedings
As a result of his actions, British Airways terminated Pentecost’s employment. He resides in Basingstoke with his husband, as noted in the court. Following the guilty plea, he has been granted bail and is set to be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on a date yet to be determined.
British Airways has been contacted for further comment regarding the incident. The case highlights serious concerns regarding safety and the responsibilities of cabin crew during flights, raising questions about the measures in place to ensure passenger and crew well-being.
