An 11-year-old girl from Blackpool, known as a “real-life Cinderella,” faced a heartbreaking incident at her primary school prom when bullies damaged her dress. Jessica Robinson attended the event wearing a stunning blue gown valued at approximately €520 (£450) but left in tears after a classmate allegedly stomped on her dress while others recorded the incident on their phones.

Jessica’s mother, Micha Robinson, reported that her daughter had been bullied for the past three years. Following the prom incident, Jessica was so distressed that she refused to leave her room and missed the final two days of school. Micha stated that she has sought counseling for Jessica in light of the ongoing bullying, which began in Year 3 when Jessica returned home with bruises.

After sharing the distressing experience on social media, the local community rallied around Jessica to organize a second prom celebration, dubbed “Ballgowns and Bravery,” scheduled for August 23, 2023. Libbie Cannon, the owner of Notorious bar, has generously offered her venue free of charge for the event, emphasizing the community’s desire to support Jessica and create a more positive memory.

“We’ve definitely all rallied together to help Jessica,” Libbie commented. “The response has been absolutely fantastic. It really pulled at my heartstrings.” More than 50 children are expected to attend the re-do, with local businesses contributing decorations, a red carpet entrance, and even security services to ensure a memorable experience.

Micha has arranged for Jessica’s dress to be repaired at no cost, and her daughter is excited to wear it again for the event. “She’s excited; she can’t wait,” Micha shared. “I couldn’t thank the community enough.”

Lancashire Police have been informed about the bullying incident, which is currently under investigation. The community’s response highlights a collective commitment to combat bullying and support those affected, aiming to restore faith and hope in Jessica’s life. As the celebration approaches, it promises to be a heartwarming event that transforms a painful memory into one of joy and community spirit.
