Five Soldiers Injured in Shooting at Fort Stewart, Georgia

Five soldiers were shot at the Fort Stewart Army base in Georgia on March 15, 2024. The incident prompted a swift lockdown of the facility as law enforcement responded to the scene. The lockdown at Fort Stewart lasted approximately one hour, during which time three elementary schools located just outside the base also implemented lockdown procedures “out of an abundance of caution,” according to Brian Perry, superintendent of the Liberty County School System. These schools collectively serve nearly 1,400 students, highlighting the potential impact on families in the area.

Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene shortly before 11:00 AM, indicating that the response was immediate and prioritized the safety of both military personnel and local residents.
