Journey Beyond Expands Reach with Acquisition of Grand Pacific Tours

Journey Beyond, an Australian travel brand, has broadened its operations by acquiring Grand Pacific Tours, a well-regarded coach holiday specialist based in New Zealand. This acquisition, set to take effect in September 2023, marks Journey Beyond’s initial foray into international markets beyond Australia.
The addition of Grand Pacific Tours, recognized as New Zealand’s leading coach touring company, aligns with Journey Beyond’s ambition to enhance its portfolio of experiential tourism offerings. Chris Tallent, CEO of Journey Beyond, expressed enthusiasm about this new chapter, stating, “We are excited to welcome Grand Pacific Tours to Journey Beyond’s growing portfolio of iconic brands and experiences.” He emphasized that this acquisition represents a significant phase of growth, allowing the company to provide more immersive and authentic travel experiences in New Zealand.
Grand Pacific Tours has been catering to travelers since 1996, offering unique styles of coach travel that resonate with Journey Beyond’s mission. The company’s offerings include the Ultimate Small Group Tours, featuring exclusive Business class coaches limited to 20 travelers, and the popular Signature Mid-Size group tours, which provide premium economy comfort on custom-designed 32-seater coaches. With over 230 departures planned for the upcoming season, these fully inclusive tours promise specially curated itineraries that showcase New Zealand’s most sought-after experiences.
As part of the transition, Peter Harding, Founder and Managing Director of Grand Pacific Tours, will remain with the company as Executive General Manager. He expressed his confidence in Journey Beyond as the new custodians of his legacy, stating, “I am thrilled to pass the Grand Pacific Tours baton to Journey Beyond, who are now the proud custodians of our legacy.”
Journey Beyond plans to integrate the Grand Pacific Tours team into its operations seamlessly. Stacia Morris, General Manager of Grand Pacific Tours, along with the entire team, will join the Journey Beyond group. Tallent highlighted the collaborative potential of this merger, stating, “We are beyond excited to welcome this exceptional business and the Grand Pacific Team into the Journey Beyond family.”
This strategic acquisition not only enhances Journey Beyond’s capabilities in offering memorable travel experiences but also aims to boost tourism in New Zealand, connecting travelers with the stunning natural beauty of both the North and South islands. As the travel industry continues to evolve, Journey Beyond’s expansion into New Zealand signifies a commitment to providing unforgettable journeys for explorers from around the world.
