K-9 Dunkin Captures Burglary Suspect Hiding in Enfield

Enfield police reported that their K-9 unit, led by Dunkin, successfully apprehended a suspect involved in a burglary on March 14, 2024, at a residence located on Garden Street. The 3-year-old German shepherd played a crucial role in the capture, locating the man who was hiding under construction debris in the basement.
Officers were dispatched to the home after the homeowner witnessed the suspect forcing entry into the property. Surveillance cameras had also captured footage of the individual inside the residence, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Initially, the police drone team searched multiple floors of the house but did not locate the suspect, leaving the search to K-9 Dunkin.
As officers continued their search, they discovered a broken window leading to the basement. After making multiple announcements urging the suspect to surrender, and receiving no response, K-9 Dunkin was sent down to investigate.
Police stated, “After multiple announcements were made for the suspect to give up and receiving no response, K-9 Dunkin entered the basement.” The K-9 quickly found the suspect concealed under the debris, leading to his apprehension.
The Enfield Police Department has not disclosed the identity of the suspect or the specific charges he may face following his arrest. This incident highlights the effectiveness of K-9 units in police operations, showcasing both the training of the dogs and the importance of teamwork in law enforcement.
