Spring Hotels Celebrates 20 Years of Walk for Life in Tenerife
Spring Hotels actively participated in the 20th edition of the Walk for Life, held on November 30, 2023, in Tenerife. This significant charity event aims to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. The walk attracted approximately 7,500 participants and successfully raised €133,000 to support the cause.
Community Engagement and Support
Demonstrating its commitment to the local community, Spring Hotels had 42 employees join the event, showcasing their dedication to cancer awareness. The company generously covered registration fees for all staff wishing to participate and offered optional transportation for those traveling from nearby towns. Employees gathered at Siam Mall at 09:45 before walking through Playa de Las Américas, the Verónicas area, and along the Golden Mile.
Many participants personalized their race numbers in memory or honor of loved ones affected by cancer, enhancing the emotional significance of the event. The atmosphere was lively, with live music, family-friendly activities, and a palpable sense of celebration and solidarity.
Personal Reflections and Team Spirit
“Walking together as a team felt really special,” said Anna Marie Lacey, Agency Support at Spring Hotels. “I’ve been walking the Walk for Life for nearly 20 years now, and it gets more emotional every year. People of all ages and abilities were there, and you could really feel the hope and support from everyone. Seeing so many T-shirts that said ‘Walk for Mama’ was incredibly moving, and there was also a joyful, celebratory side with music, dancing, and even Zumba along the route. One word kept coming to mind: UNITY.”
Noeline Lagache, also from Agency Support at Spring Hotels, echoed similar sentiments: “Taking part in the Walk for Life was incredibly moving. Many of us have been touched by cancer in some way, and walking side by side as a team made the experience unforgettable.”
After the walk, the team gathered at Spring Surfest Pro on the beach next to the H10 Las Palmeras to enjoy a celebratory drink and reflect on the camaraderie and collective impact of the day. The Walk for Life, presented by the Carrera por la Vida Foundation in collaboration with the Arona and Adeje councils, featured commemorative T-shirts, prizes, and raffles. This event attracted both residents and visitors who joined in the iconic “Pink Tide” to support breast cancer awareness.
