TUI Expands African Footprint with Seven New Hotels
The TUI Group has announced an ambitious expansion across Africa, adding seven new hotels to its portfolio. This move highlights the continent’s rising status as a key destination for international holidaymakers, known for its rich cultural diversity and stunning natural landscapes. With this strategic expansion, TUI aims to enhance its offerings in North, West, and East Africa, catering to a variety of customer segments and reinforcing its commitment to sustainable tourism.
New Additions Across the Continent
In November 2023, four resorts were launched in North Africa, further diversifying TUI’s regional offerings. Among these, the new Mora Sahara Tozeur in Tunisia is situated on the outskirts of the Sahara Desert, featuring 93 rooms and villas designed to provide stunning desert views. Guests can enjoy multiple dining options, including three restaurants serving both local and international cuisine, as well as a spa and fitness centre.
In Egypt, the TUI Magic Life Redsina Sharm el Sheikh has recently undergone modernization. Located on the Sinai Peninsula, this hotel offers 521 rooms directly on the beach, along with amenities like swim-up pools and a diving school, catering to families, couples, and solo travelers alike. Additionally, TUI’s joint venture with JAZ Hotel Group has welcomed two new resorts: JAZ Royal Palmariva and JAZ Palmariva Beach, enhancing the Red Sea experience with stylish accommodations and personalized service.
The Gambia also sees new developments with the opening of TUI Blue Tamala on November 1, 2025. This adults-only resort features 140 rooms located on a private beach, offering an all-inclusive experience with a focus on relaxation and entertainment, including a beach bar and wellness activities.
Future Openings and Growth in Zanzibar
TUI’s expansion plans do not stop here. In Tanzania, the hotel cluster in Zanzibar is set to grow further with the opening of JAZ Amaluna on December 15, 2025. This adults-only resort will feature 211 rooms, two swimming pools, and a variety of dining options. Following this, the Riu Palace Swahili is scheduled to open in early 2026, boasting over 500 rooms and a comprehensive all-inclusive service.
Once these new properties are operational, TUI Hotels & Resorts will have a total of 106 hotels with over 34,000 rooms in nine African countries. This significant growth underscores the increasing interest in Africa as a travel destination, driven by its unique offerings and the potential for sustainable tourism.
Peter Krueger, a member of the TUI Group Executive Board and CEO of Holiday Experiences, stated, “With the expansion of our hotel clusters in North, West, and East Africa, we are continuing to deliver differentiated holiday experiences in promising growth destinations.” He emphasized TUI’s commitment to sustainable development that benefits local communities and enriches guest experiences across the continent.
As TUI continues to strengthen its presence in Africa, it is clear that the continent is poised to attract more visitors in the coming years, offering a blend of adventure, culture, and relaxation for all types of travelers.
