Bournemouth Signs Gannon Doak from Liverpool for £25 Million

Bournemouth has secured the signing of teenage winger Gannon Doak from Liverpool for approximately £25 million. The 19-year-old Scotland international, who prefers to be known as Gannon Doak to honor both of his parents, has committed to a five-year contract at the Vitality Stadium. This transfer includes a buy-back option, a key stipulation for Liverpool’s agreement to the deal.
Doak’s move follows Bournemouth’s recent sale of forward Dango Ouattara to Brentford for £42.5 million, contributing to the club’s ongoing investment in new talent. This latest acquisition marks Doak as Bournemouth’s fourth signing of the summer, pushing their total spending close to £100 million. The previous signings include goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, left-back Adrien Truffert, and centre-back Bafode Diakite.
Doak’s Journey to Bournemouth
Doak’s transfer comes amidst a significant financial reshuffle at Liverpool, which has seen the club sell eight players this summer for a cumulative total of £227.6 million. Despite this influx of cash, Liverpool has also invested heavily, spending £321 million on new signings. Doak expressed a desire for regular first-team football, which was a driving factor behind his decision to join Bournemouth.
Earlier in the transfer window, Porto had made an offer for Doak, and several other European clubs, including Stuttgart, Bologna, and Monaco, were also interested in securing his services. Additionally, multiple Premier League teams, such as Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Leeds, Everton, and Wolves, showed interest in the young talent.
Last season, Doak spent time on loan at Middlesbrough, where he scored three goals and provided seven assists in 24 Championship appearances. Unfortunately, an injury in January cut his season short, but he is keen to make an impact in the Premier League with Bournemouth. He stated, “I’m buzzing to be here. I feel like it’s the right time for me, and it’s a great opportunity to play regular football at the highest level. It feels like the perfect fit.”
Looking Ahead
Gannon Doak is set to wear the number 11 shirt and could make his Bournemouth debut on Saturday at home against Wolves. The club’s Head of Football Operations, Tiago Pinto, praised Doak’s potential, noting, “Ben is an exciting young talent who has shown his quality at the highest level despite his age. He brings pace and energy that will fit our model well.”
Bournemouth continues to focus on reinvesting in their squad as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League season, aiming to build a competitive team capable of achieving their goals.
