Gallagher Brothers Honor Mother Peggy at Croke Park Concert

The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, dedicated their performance of the hit Oasis track “Roll With It” to the people of Charlestown during their recent concert at Croke Park. This heartfelt gesture paid tribute to their beloved mother, Peggy Gallagher, who hails from the town in County Mayo. As they prepared to play, Liam engaged with the audience, asking, “Anyone here from Mayo, Charlestown?” The crowd responded with enthusiastic cheers, prompting a playful remark from Liam: “There’s only about five people there, you can’t all be f*****g from there.”
Continuing the evening’s sentimental tone, Liam dedicated another song, “Stand By Me,” directly to Peggy, who was present in the audience. The moment was particularly special, as it marked a reunion for the brothers, who have been estranged in the past. Liam cheekily blew a kiss to Noel before the band launched into a lively set that included “Talk Tonight,” “Half The World Away,” and “D’You Know What I Mean.”
Celebrating Family and Heritage
The concert took place on August 16 and 17, 2023, attracting over 80,000 fans eager to see the iconic band perform. The atmosphere at Croke Park was electric, with fans, affectionately referred to as “mad fer it,” celebrating the brothers’ return to their home country. The shows featured a traditional drone display above the venue, adding to the festive spirit of the events.
Liam’s dedication to his mother resonated deeply with the crowd, showcasing the strong familial ties that the Gallagher brothers maintain despite their complicated history. Peggy’s presence at the concert, witnessing her sons perform together, added an emotional layer to the evening. Liam stated, “I wanna play this one to me mam, me mam’s in tonight!” The crowd appreciated the sentiment, reflecting on the significance of family in their performances.
In addition to the music, concert-goers should be prepared for the typical prices associated with entertainment at large events. A pint of Guinness is priced at €7.35, while a pint of Rockshore or cider costs €8. Attendees can also purchase a 187ml serving of red, white, or rosé wine for €9, making for a lively atmosphere as fans enjoy both the performances and refreshments.
As the Gallagher brothers continue to captivate audiences, their ability to blend personal touches with high-energy performances ensures that their concerts remain memorable experiences for fans. The Croke Park shows are a testament to their enduring popularity and the deep connection they share with their roots.
