Kilkenny Launches Charity CD Featuring Local Artists for Homeless Aid
The launch of the “Kilkenny Greats, Johnny Scully and Friends” CD took place on October 5, 2023, in support of local charity Kilkenny Helping the Homeless. This initiative, spearheaded by Mary Pierce, aims to raise funds for those in need within the community. The event, filled with enthusiasm, unfolded on the “Kilkenny Greats” programme hosted by Kay B on Community Radio Kilkenny City (CRKC).
The launch provided an opportunity for the public to engage with the artists involved in the project. After the radio segment, attendees gathered at the Kilford Hotel for an evening of celebration and camaraderie. This gathering not only highlighted local talent but also underscored the community’s commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals.
During the launch, a spokesperson for CRKC expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the event, stating, “Our thanks to Mayor of Kilkenny, Cllr. John Coonan, Mary Pierce, John Travers, Noreen Travers, and Johnny Scully for joining Kay B in the studio today to launch the CD and talk about this great initiative.” Their involvement reflects the collaborative spirit that drives the local arts and charity scene.
The CD features a blend of musical styles and showcases the talents of various artists from the region. By purchasing this album, supporters are not just enjoying the music but are also contributing to a meaningful cause that addresses homelessness in Kilkenny.
As the evening progressed, attendees celebrated not only the launch but also the shared commitment to improving the lives of those less fortunate in the community. The event was a testament to the power of music and community action, demonstrating how local initiatives can make a significant impact.
With the release of the “Kilkenny Greats” CD, the hope is to inspire others to engage with local charities and support initiatives that uplift the community. This project exemplifies the heart of Kilkenny, where creativity and compassion go hand in hand.
