Laura Fox Faces On-Air Blunders After Electric Picnic Return

Laura Fox, the popular host of RTE 2FM, encountered a series of comedic mishaps during her first day back on air following the Electric Picnic music festival. The 34-year-old radio star returned to her show live at 09:00 on September 4, 2023, but quickly found herself struggling with technical difficulties that left her flustered and laughing.
The Galway native humorously expressed her regret at not taking the day off, as she shared her misadventures with fans on Instagram. She remarked, “The wheels are well and truly off the bus and it’s only half nine,” while laughing and putting her head in her hands.
During her broadcast, Fox attempted to cut to an advertisement break, but encountered issues with the equipment. “All I could do was speak into the mic, so I just started saying, ‘Breakfast can you play a tune? Andrew can you come and help me?’” she recounted. Andrew, her co-host, remained composed throughout the chaos, but as soon as they returned on air, he jokingly rambled, “blah, blah, blah.”
Despite the rocky start, Laura invited fellow RTE 2FM star Lottie Ryan to discuss her week on the show, noting that Lottie had filled in for her while she attended Electric Picnic. In another humorous slip, Laura mistakenly thanked Lottie for covering her on “tomorrow’s show,” rather than yesterday’s broadcast. “Oh my God, I’m here until 12 o’clock, I don’t know what’s happening,” she exclaimed, rubbing her eyes in disbelief.
As the show progressed, Laura managed to settle into a rhythm, completing the two-hour segment without further incident. She later took to Instagram to reflect on the chaotic day, sharing her relief at its conclusion. To unwind, she booked herself a massage, stating, “I actually think I lost my mind a bit today,” but added that it was “great fun all the same.”
In a light-hearted conclusion, Fox described her massage experience, saying, “The masseuse beat me black and blue, it was pure bliss!” Her engaging personality and ability to find humor in challenging situations resonated with listeners, showcasing her charm as a radio host.
Despite the blunders, Laura Fox’s return to the airwaves was marked by laughter and camaraderie, reminding her audience of the unpredictable nature of live broadcasting.
