Limerick Welcomes Students with Vibrant Twilight Thursday Events

Limerick City transformed into a lively hub as it hosted its latest installment of Twilight Thursday on September 28, 2023. This vibrant event welcomed students returning to their studies and newcomers exploring the city for the first time, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural and social experiences available in the Treaty City.
The evening featured an array of activities designed to engage attendees of all ages. One of the highlights was a live dinosaur show at the Milk Market, part of the Family Fun Night, which drew families eager to enjoy the unique entertainment. Local residents Owen and Kerri Croucher were seen with their children, Eabha and Harley, immersed in the festivities, capturing the spirit of community and family involvement.
Food and drink played a significant role in the celebration, with various vendors showcasing their offerings. Attendees savored hot dogs at The Still House, where local grill masters, including Cian Foley, Stephen, and Lee, provided delicious treats. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and the enticing scent of food, drawing in crowds eager for a taste of local cuisine.
As evening approached, live music added to the festive ambiance. The Shannon Street Sessions at Flannerys featured local artists performing a mix of genres, creating a vibrant backdrop for socializing. Meanwhile, the wine tasting experience at Cavavin allowed guests to indulge in a selection of fine wines, enhancing the evening’s enjoyment.
Dancing enthusiasts took part in the Sip and Salsa event at 101 Limerick, where instructor Jeavony taught participants Cuban salsa moves. This interactive experience encouraged attendees to engage with one another, fostering a sense of community through dance and cultural exchange.
Another intriguing event was the UV paint and sip session at The Wickham Way, where creativity flourished under black lights. Participants expressed themselves through art while enjoying refreshments, making for a memorable evening of artistic exploration.
The presence of authors such as Joseph O’Connor, Donal Ryan, and Sarah Gilmartin added a literary flair to the event, as they mingled with participants, sharing stories and insights about their work. Their involvement underscored the event’s commitment to celebrating local talent and fostering connections among community members.
Twilight Thursday not only showcased the vibrant life of Limerick but also emphasized the importance of community engagement and cultural richness. As students settle into their new academic year, events like this create opportunities for social interaction, exploration, and enjoyment, enriching the experience of living in Limerick City.
The successful turnout for Twilight Thursday reflects the city’s dedication to creating a welcoming environment for all, ensuring that both residents and visitors can enjoy the dynamic offerings that make Limerick a unique destination.
