Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley Announce Separation After 13 Years

Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley have officially announced their separation after 13 years of marriage. The couple, who share two sons, Milo and James, released a statement on Tuesday confirming that they have decided to part ways, clarifying that “no other party [was] involved” in the decision.
From Friendship to Marriage
The presenters first crossed paths in 2002 while co-hosting the BBC talent show Fame Academy. Their professional relationship blossomed over two seasons of the program, although both were in separate relationships at the time, keeping their connection strictly platonic.
After nearly a decade of friendship, the pair’s relationship evolved. In 2012, they tied the knot in a surprise ceremony in Rome after a brief nine-month courtship. The wedding, attended by about 100 guests, caught many fans off guard, especially since Kielty had previously denied any engagement plans.
A Memorable Gesture
Cat Deeley once referred to a significant moment that helped solidify their romantic connection. During an appearance on the Made by Mammas podcast in 2020, she shared how Kielty “knocked my socks off” by spontaneously flying to Los Angeles to celebrate her birthday.
On the night before, they had chatted on the phone while Kielty was out. He then caught a 7 AM flight to surprise her. “He walked in, dropped his bags at the concierge, came and sat down for lunch!” Deeley recalled, highlighting the impact of his thoughtful gesture.
Following their separation announcement, the couple requested privacy for their family as they navigate this transition. In their statement to the PA news agency, they emphasized their commitment to co-parenting and maintaining a united front for the sake of their children.
The separation comes in the wake of some unwanted media attention earlier in the year, particularly surrounding Deeley’s absence at her mother-in-law’s funeral. As they move forward, both entertainers have expressed a desire to protect their family’s privacy.
