Electric Picnic, one of Ireland’s largest music festivals, is set to welcome approximately 80,000 attendees this weekend in Stradbally, Co Laois. However, festival-goers should prepare for rain showers and occasional heavy downpours, alongside some sunny intervals. The weather forecast indicates that while the worst conditions will mainly affect the north and northwest regions of Ireland, the midlands will also experience high winds and sporadic rain.

According to Met Éireann, the most favorable weather is anticipated on Friday, September 1, 2025. Attendees can expect a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, particularly in the northern and western areas. The eastern and southeastern parts of the country are likely to enjoy the most sunshine, with temperatures peaking around 20 degrees Celsius.

As night falls on Friday, meteorologist Andrew Doran-Sherlock warns that cloud cover will increase, bringing rain and drizzle, especially to Munster and parts of Connacht. Temperatures may drop to as low as 9 degrees Celsius, with winds picking up from the southwest.

The weather is forecast to deteriorate on Saturday, September 2, 2025, with widespread rain expected throughout the morning. Some of this rain will be heavy, leading to the potential for localized flooding. Accompanying the rain will be fresh to strong southerly winds, which could reach near gale force along the Atlantic coast. Despite the adverse weather, temperatures are expected to rise to about 21 degrees Celsius during the day.

By Sunday, September 3, conditions may remain breezy and showery, although there will be some dry and sunny intervals, particularly in eastern and southeastern regions. Highs for the day are forecasted to range from 14 to 19 degrees Celsius, with continued fresh and gusty winds from the south or southwest.

Looking ahead to early next week, a mix of sunny spells and showers is predicted, with heavier rainfall likely on Monday and lighter showers on Tuesday. Festival-goers are advised to dress appropriately for the weather, ensuring they have suitable footwear and waterproof clothing to enjoy the weekend festivities safely.
