Cairde na hEaragaile, a non-profit organization based in Dunlewey, has announced multiple job openings, including a Project Coordinator, as part of its efforts to enhance environmental conservation in the region. Established in 2022, the organization is dedicated to the protection of Errigal Mountain and its surrounding landscape.

The positions available are crucial for an upcoming landscape management project aimed at expanding the current rhododendron control program. This initiative will take place within the Cloghernagore Bog and Glenveagh National Park SAC, as well as targeted areas in the Dunlewey and Errigal regions. The project will not only focus on invasive species control but also on enhancing local capacity for peatland restoration and maintaining access paths on Errigal.

Available Positions and Responsibilities

Cairde na hEaragaile is seeking to fill several roles:

Project Coordinator (Full-time, 1-year contract): This position requires a dynamic individual to lead the daily implementation of a multifaceted environmental project. The coordinator will focus on invasive species control, peatland restoration, community engagement, mapping, and sustainable upland access across the Errigal and Dunlewey regions.

Project Administrator (Part-time, 1-year contract): The Project Administrator will provide essential administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of Cairde na hEaragaile’s various projects. Responsibilities include financial tracking, record-keeping, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement, supporting both the Project Coordinator and the wider team.

Field Operative Supervisor: This role involves overseeing a team of field operatives working on invasive species control, bog restoration, and path maintenance primarily in Northwest Donegal. The supervisor will ensure adherence to safety protocols and methodologies.

Field Operatives: Cairde na hEaragaile is also hiring Field Operatives for current and future conservation projects. These operatives will carry out practical outdoor tasks such as rhododendron control, path maintenance, and other upland management work. The role demands physical outdoor work in varied weather conditions, offering the chance to contribute significantly to local environmental protection.
