Saint Eunan’s College Honors Senior Students at Annual Awards Ceremony
The annual awards ceremony at Saint Eunan’s College in Letterkenny celebrated the achievements of senior students on November 14, 2023. The event recognized students for their contributions to various aspects of school life, including academics, sports, and community service.
Among the distinguished guests was Shaun Patton, a former student and current goalkeeper for the Donegal senior football team. His presence added a notable highlight to the evening, as he shared his experiences with the current students.
Awards presented during the ceremony included the prestigious Damien Blake STEAM Award, the Paul Elliott Mathematics Scholarships, the Hugh Duffy Cup, and the Charles Farrelly Cup. Each award acknowledged the hard work and dedication exhibited by students over the past academic year.
The Damien Blake STEAM Award was given to Neil Augustine, who demonstrated exceptional skills in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. The evening also saw Eoin Flanagan and Neil Augustine receiving the Charles Farrelly Cup for their outstanding performance as sixth-year students.
In the sports categories, Brendan Hegarty was awarded the Hugh Duffy Cup for his accomplishments in athletics. The ceremony also recognized top performers in various sports, with Sam O’Donnell named the Senior Sportsman of the Year, while Kyle McLaughlin and Adam McDaid received accolades as the soccer players of the year.
The awards ceremony also included recognition for students involved in the school’s environmental initiatives. Students such as Cormac Haran and Luke Sweeney were honored for their contributions to the school’s Green Schools program, which aims to promote sustainability and environmental awareness within the school community.
The Spirit of Saint Eunan’s College award was presented to Shay Bonner and Cillian James, acknowledging their embodiment of the school’s values. Other notable awards included the Gaisce Awards and various recognitions for academic excellence in subjects such as biology and agricultural science.
