Danny Duffy Aims for Knockout Victory Close to Home in Letterkenny
Danny Duffy is preparing for a significant fight in Letterkenny this weekend, where he aims to achieve his first career knockout. The 24-year-old boxer, hailing from Stabane, will compete on the Rumble in the Hills card at the Aura Leisure Complex on March 15, 2024. Duffy is looking to impress his local fans with a decisive victory close to home.
“I’ll be looking to take him out in there,” Duffy stated confidently. “If I see the shot, I’ll take it and aim for a stoppage win.” He emphasized his desire to demonstrate a different side of his boxing ability, aiming for a win inside the distance.
Duffy’s proximity to the venue, just a 20-minute drive away, adds to the excitement. With a passionate crowd expected, he is eager to make it a memorable night. “I’m buzzing to be on this card full of unbelievable talent,” he noted. “Big thanks to Jason Quigley for bringing professional boxing back to Donegal, which gives boxers like me the chance to perform so close to home. It also inspires young fighters to see that opportunities exist for them too.”
While Duffy is focused on securing a stoppage, he understands that achieving this goal will require hard work. He is set to face Ricky Starkey, an experienced opponent known for his durability. “I’m expecting a good solid fight,” he remarked. “I’m in with an experienced opponent, but I’ll always be looking to put on a dominant performance.”
Duffy currently competes in the super bantamweight division, which is thriving in Ireland. However, he hinted at future plans to move down in weight classes. “I’m at super bantamweight at the minute because that’s where the fights are,” he explained. “But I will eventually move down to bantamweight and potentially could even see myself at flyweight.”
As for entering the domestic title mix, Duffy is taking a measured approach. “I’ll be ready for every opportunity that comes my way,” he said. “But I’m also in no rush. I’ve got plenty of time and a big career ahead of me.”
With the support of local fans and the excitement surrounding the event, Duffy is determined to make his mark in Letterkenny and take a significant step forward in his boxing career.
